Hey there! 

I’m Danica, the artist and metalsmith behind Smokestack Silver. I design and handcraft each piece in my Anaconda studio and along the backroads of the West, shaping sterling silver, copper, brass, and carefully chosen stones into unique, personal pieces.

Raised among the sagebrush and potato fields of southern Idaho, I’ve called Montana home in my adult life. Now based in Anaconda, I find inspiration in its people, history, and nature.

My work is shaped by the landscapes, textures, and weathered metals I encounter: the grain of the land, the patina of old barns, and the beauty of God’s creatures and creations all find their way into my jewelry. When I’m not at the bench I’m often on a river or lake where I am fishing and soaking up the quiet places that inspire my pieces.

By day I travel the West as an agronomist which means I am a “plant doctor.” Working with farmers, ranchers, and industry has given me experiences in agriculture and conservation that have taught me that every landscape holds a story worth preserving. I aim to capture those stories in metal. I hope your piece connects you to a place, person, or memory worth holding onto.
